Impact the lives of young adults!
The Ablaze Mission community impacts hundreds of young adults each year. We spotlight the transformation of two young adults – Nicholas and Elijah. Despite their different religious backgrounds, they each encountered our community at a critical time of searching and eventually entered the Catholic Church.

Nicholas (Nick) was raised Evangelical Lutheran, but had been exposed to Catholicism from his father's side of the family. Eventually, he sensed his "faith and relationship with God hitting a plateau." He was also searching for Christian community with fellow young adults.
Fortunately, when Nick moved to South Bend for graduate school in July 2023, he encountered the Ablaze Mission community. Through participation in our Alive Series, weekly Bible Study, and social activities, he eventually discerned that his next step was to become Catholic in order to move "off that plateau and on to climbing the next part of my path with God." Nick joyfully entered the Catholic Church this past August 2025.

​Nick's sponsor throughout the process of becoming Catholic was Elijah (Eli). Eli was well aware of the process because he too had become Catholic just the year before in August 2024.

Eli was raised in the Church of Christ, and had discerned a desire and calling for teaching and preaching the scriptures. When his brother-in-law came back to Catholicism, Eli set out to "prove his decision wrong". His studies eventually led him to connecting with Catholics (at the 4-H Fair!), who pointed him to the Ablaze Mission community.
An important step in his conversion was when Eli came to our Ablaze Bible Study and found "young Catholics [who] love scripture just as much as I did and strive to love God." This made the possibility of conversion realistic amidst a supportive community. After Eli entered the Catholic Church, God didn't waste any time in directing him to accompany Nick as his sponsor.

Both Nick and Eli were searching for more, and fortunately the Ablaze Mission community was here to receive them, journey with them, and help them on their next step in faith.
